Parent Communication At Little Acorns

One of our program goals at Little Acorns is to ensure open communication between staff, parents, and children. We know that parents offer information and insight that is irreplaceable in the growth and development of their children. Therefore, it is our goal to keep the lines of communication between parents and teachers completely open. We promote this in variety of ways which are described in detail below. We know that a collaboration between staff and parents is in the best interest of the children. Another one of our program goals is to provide care to the families in our areas. We strive to serve families, not just children. Because we believe in family and know that children are inseparable from their families, it is our desire to form meaningful and lasting relationships with the entire family.

Our Open Door Policy

At Little Acorns, we have an open door policy. This means you, as a parent, are free to visit or join in at any time. We encourage parent involvement and participation and have many fieldtrip volunteer opportunities.

Each child has a personal mailbox for parents to check for any new or important information.

Daily Notes

We document each child's day with a daily note, which includes eating, diapering, nap time, and some of the highlights of their day.

"Today We... Note"

Each day, each classroom posts a "Today We..." note on the parent communication board. This notes lists all the activities that were done during that day.

In each room, there is a parent communication book which is available for parents to jot down notes concerning any important information which they would like the teachers to specifically remember or address.

In each room, there is a parent communication bulletin board which gives valuable information regarding schedules, lesson plans, upcoming events, calendars, and classroom information.

Monthly Newsletter

Each month, all families receive a monthly newsletter. This newsletter contains important information and updates regarding each specific classroom. It also contain important information about the entire center including a calendar of special events and the monthly curriculum theme.
